Emmerdale actress visits Holy Cross

9 February 2015

A former Nancy visited a new Nancy at Holy Cross  – and gave her some last minute inspirational tips.

Lisa Kos, formerly Lisa Birchall, is a former Holy Cross student and is now the script supervisor on popular soap Emmerdale.

She was Nancy in Oliver! when she was a student at the Chorley School, which she left in 1998, and she talked to current student, Aisling, who will play Nancy when the show opens tomorrow until February 12th.

“Lisa spoke at length to Max, who plays Bill Sykes and Aisling, along with a few others, about life in TV in front of and behind the cameras,” said School Learning Mentor Ms Stubbs who is a family friend of Lisa’s and invited her into the school.

“She told them that the best advice she had for anyone who wanted to go into the business was ‘Work hard and be true to yourself. Anything’s possible.’”

Lisa went to Leeds University to study media after leaving Holy Cross and got a job as a runner on Emmerdale before working her way up.

She is married to Jamie, with one girl Eva aged two, and lives in Leeds with a hectic schedule of 14-hour shoots.

On her visit to Holy Cross, Lisa had a tour around the school and caught up with some of her former teachers.

“They were all delighted to see her,” added Ms Stubbs. “I know Lisa but she came to inspire some of the students and, by the look on their faces, she did!”

Tickets are on sale from the reception costing £8 for adults and £4 for concessions. Don’t miss out!
