Defibrillator now on site at Holy Cross

12 February 2015

Holy Cross now have a defibrillator on site after Chorley Wanderers bought one for use with their football teams and at the school.

Chorley Wanderers was established in 2007  and run teams from Under nine through to Under 16 level – they have 150 players signed up to their Charter Standard club.

Holy Cross provides a base for them to train, with the emphasis on fun, health and community, and they also play some competitive games at the school.

Steve Flux, Wanderers League Secretary, said: “In one way we hope the defib unit is never needed but we as a club felt we should do all we could to provide a means of trying to help save a life if faced with the scenario where a defib could do just that.

“The school has been extremely supportive to us since we started out so we felt it only right that the defib was made available to all who attend and use the school facilities and are pleased we are in a position to be able to make it happen.”

Holy Cross Catholic High School’s John Smith  said “This is a fantastic gesture by Chorley Wanderers and we cannot thank them enough.

“To reinforce what Steve has already said, we would hope never to have to use the defibrillator unit, but feel much safer now in the knowledge that it is available and it could save a child’s life at some point in the future.”
