Musician, Corinne, hit the right notes in her GCSEs as the Holy Cross student secured a stunning 10 A*s.

The 16-year-old also collected two As as the Chorley school celebrated an improvement on English to Maths A*s-Cs on last year as it continues to take strides forward.

Corinne plans to take French, English Literature, History and Music at the prestigious Winstanley College in Wigan.

“I sing and play the piano. I am hoping to take my Grade Seven in singing soon as it will help me with university points,” said Corinne.

“At the moment I am unsure what to do as I may go into law or may continue with my music.”

Not far behind her was James who admitted he has been fretting all summer – but now he can smile after gaining nine A*s, two As and one C in his GCSE results.

Holy Cross student James said: “I am a worrier, I just think about things too much so have been thinking about my GCSEs all summer and am relieved they have gone well.

“I want to go to Cardinal Newman and study English Literature, Ancient History, French and Film Studies and then study journalism at university.”

Aimee is hoping to boost the profile of females in science after her outstanding GCSE results as she too collected nine A*s and three As.

Aimee aims to go to Newman College and student Maths, Biology and Psychology.

“I enjoy biology and that’s what I want to do in the future,” said Aimee.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross’s Euan, has been working in Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle’s office over the summer as he decides if he want to follow his dad into politics.

Euan’s dad is Councillor Alistair Bradley and the teenager celebrated gaining four A*s and seven As as he looks to the future.

“There was more administrative work than I thought there would be as an MP,” said Year 11 Head Boy Euan.

“There are a lot of letters from constituents to deal with so it does seem quite office-bound!”

He plans to go to Cardinal Newman College where Politics will be one of his A-Levels, alongside Economics, Maths and Geography.

“I do like geography but am interested in all the subjects as it keeps my options open,” said Euan, who also plays for Chorley Cricket Club.

And sporty Hannah, who has taken a lifeguard course over the summer, has made a splash with her GCSE results.

Year 11 Head Girl Hannah has got two A*s, nine As and one B and now plans to take Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Sport at Cardinal Newman College.

She has represented the Chorley school at netball, athletics and swimming and is also a netball umpire and has coached at Chorley Infernos for the last two years.

“I have been working at The Anderton Centre in Adlington over summer which involves helping out at Rivington Reservoir,” said Hannah.

“I used to swim for Chorley Marlins and now swim for Horwich and I have just taken a life guard course.

“I am keeping my A-Levels general as I want to go to university but don’t know which subject I want to take yet.”

Meanwhile, Megan was promised a Leeds Festival ticket if she did well in her GCSE’s – and she can now book the date.

Holy Cross student Megan gained two A*s, eight As and two Bs and will now go onto Runshaw College to study Maths, English Literature, Psychology and Business.

“I want to be a lawyer,” said Megan. “I remember going to magistrate’s court on a tour when I was younger and it’s what I have wanted to do ever since.”

Head teacher Ivan Gaughan said: “I am immensely proud of all our students. It’s superb to see their faces on results day and it’s a huge achievement. I want to praise the dedication of the staff at Holy Cross as well”
