Teams of Year Five pupils put their science knowledge to the test in the 11th Annual Primary Science Quiz at Holy Cross Catholic High School.

St Gregory’s, St Chad’s, St Mary’s in Chorley, Sacred Heart, St Oswald’s, St Joseph’s in Chorley and defending champions Anderton St Joseph’s all faced a tough three round competition.

The first round was a quick-fire “Safety and Equipment” round, the second round was all about investigation and the final round was a “Famous Scientists and General Knowledge” quiz.

The top three places were separated by only one point with St Mary’s Chorley finishing third, St Chad’s Primary School runners-up and the winners were St Gregory’s Primary school.

“A big thank you to staff who gave up their time to judge the event while current Year Seven pupils donated their free time to help out with the evening and were amazing ambassadors for Holy Cross,” said science teacher and Primary Transition Co-ordinator for Science, Miss Speight.

“Local organisations donated prizes including Chocobella, McDonald’s and All Seasons Leisure Centre, and also Tesco who donated refreshments and the wine for the parent’s prize.”
