Talented student Leah has earned a prestigious full performing arts scholarship at the LMA in Liverpool.
The 15-year-old had to go through a tough audition involving dancing, singing and reading a monologue.
But she was told on the day that she had got just one of 15 places and will now spend four hours every Saturday in Liverpool learning off some of the best.
“This is the first stage for me as I want to appear in the West End, that’s my dream,” said Leah.
“It was a hard audition as there were 100s there and they selected just 15. It’s a university but they have scholarships for young people and I now go there every Saturday.
“The LMA Choir was only recently knocked out of X Factor so it is a strong place for performing arts and it will be important if I want to go to specialist colleges in London, like the Laine Theatre Arts, or the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.”
Leah has already appeared in the last school production of Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat as a narrator and has the lead role of Annie in the school’s next production, which will be on in February.
She currently attends Project Perform and has just started Gillies Mar-Jan Stage School for dance.
“I have wanted to go into musical theatre since I was six so this is a dream.”
Holy Cross Head of Performing Arts Mrs Harrison said: “We are proud of Leah. Performing Arts is extremely valued at Holy Cross and pupils achieved outstanding GCSE results last year.
“91% of pupils achieved a pass in music which is considerably higher than the national average. In drama, several pupils achieved full marks in their performance exams and a number have gone on to study drama at college.”
