Dancing to success

5 February 2015

Ballroom dancer, Katie, is hoping to dance her way to success in 2015.

In 2014, the Holy Cross student made it to the quarter-finals of the Blackpool Junior Festival at the Winter Gardens and now she wants more success.

Katie, 15, has been ballroom and Latin dancing since she was eight and her high point came when she was placed first at a competition in Southport and reached the latter stages of this event in Blackpool.

“There were dancers there from all over the country,” said Year 11 student Katie, who goes to Dance4U in Chorley.

“It is hard as judges are watching you all the time and making sure you do everything perfectly, round after round.

“It was great to get to the quarter-finals as the competition was really tough.

“I love dancing – it’s something different and I like dressing up so that helps!”

Katie has passed a number of gradings and has medals from competing all over the UK.

“I love learning new routines and entering competitions. It is just a hobby but Strictly Come Dancing has helped promote dancing and it is something I want to carry on into the future.”
