On January 1st this year Matthew Cogley passed away. He was the lead singer of the band Failsafe and is an ex-pupil of Holy Cross. As he loved his time at Holy Cross, and was really inspired by music at school, the family asked for donations to support the music department. The school purchased a new electric drum kit and a class set of ukuleles with the money. All the ukuleles bear a picture of a hummingbird, which was the symbol that Matthew used on his album and publicity. Head of Music, Beverley Harrison, said “These instruments will be cherished and will have a massive impact on music in school.” Matthew’s brother and parents have already visited the school to see the instruments in use.
