Netball superstars

Holy Cross is proud of its netball superstars who are hoping to go onto Superleague success.

Morgan, aged 13, came through tough trials to earn at place at Superleague side Leeds Rhino’s Academy.

“It was competitive and around 40 girls were selected for the academy,” said Morgan, who plays Wing Attack or Centre.

“I go training in Leeds once a week and I also play for the school team. I want to be a netballer in the future.”

Six students have been selected for Lancashire, after also coming through trial matches.

Wing Attack or Wing Defence Ellie, Goal Defence Annabel, Goal Keeper Ella and Goal Attack/Defence Julia all play for their county for their respective age groups at either Under 13 or Under 15 level.

Harriet, who plays Goal Defence or Wing Defence, and her sister Lizzie, who plays Goal Attack or Goal Defence, were also chosen for Lancashire.

“We train for two hours every Thursday at Blackburn Colleg

e,” said Harriet. “It’s a pathway to Manchester Thunder, who play in the Superleague, and it’s all our aspirations to play in the Superleague.”
