Pupils Meet Author, Angie Thomas

7 March 2019

On Wednesday evening, Mr Joynson and Miss Marsh accompanied 13 Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils to Manchester Central Library to hear a talk from acclaimed Young Adult novelist Angie Thomas.

Angie spoke passionately about writing, her experiences of being rejected as an author but still persevering and some of the issues that her books tackle. Her talk was interesting and inspiring in equal measure and the pupils were captivated throughout.

After the talk pupils had the opportunity to purchase Angie’s most well known novel, The Hate U Give, and her most recently published novel, On The Come Up. They were then lucky enough to meet Angie one-to-one as she signed their books and had a chat. Some of the pupils were so eager to start reading that they began their books on the mini bus home.
